Quartz Sand

in 1L bags

Quartz sand is an unconsolidated sedimentary rock, formed by the breaking of minerals into fine particles.

Quartz sand increases the quality of the soil mixture, providing plant roots with the moisture and aeration needed for optimal growth. Once integrated into a soil mixture, sand reduces evaporation of water from the soil and contributes significantly to creating favourable conditions for the growth of micro-organisms. It prevents compaction of potting soil and makes the mix easier to handle.

Sand promotes root development and microcapillaries, protects them from disease and prevents the growth of moulds (especially common in heavy soils due to poor aeration).

Quartz sand is non-toxic, requiring no precautions in handling through direct and unprotected contact. It is inert, does not harm the environment and contains no organic impurities. Non-flammable and does not sustain combustion.
